Kriegsmarine Epaulettes Kapitan zur See. Condition is "Used".
The base of the epaulettes is constructed of a metal-reinforced core, with a dark blue wool underside, padded middle, and an ornate upper, consisting of an intricate design of extremely thin golden aluminum bullion wire embroidery. The ridge of the epaulettes is constructed of matching gold coloured bullion that is densely wrapped around a fabric core to form wavy and straight rows of strings. The ridge is flanked by 16 mm wide silver tresse that is neatly folded around the corners of the shoulder piece, with a brass eyelet for attachment to the the uniform on the upper. The obverse further depicts a silvered fouled Kriegsmarine anchor insignia affixed to the padded upper and double gold rank pip. Around the ridge of the epaulettes are countless golden fringes that are sewn into the underside, and suspended by gravity.
The epaulettes unfortunately don't have the original anchor and pips. I do have period correct reproductions available if you like, they are featured on one of the epaulettes. They are gold pips with silver anchor. They can be removed should the buyer prefer, or removed and just the epaulettes mailed. Just let me know your preference.
