    Description

Vintage American hardwood, steel and aluminum heavy-duty Tripod
This is a very well-made (probably during World War II) American hardwood, steel and aluminum heavy-duty tripod of the sort used for surveying with a large transit.  It is in very good, little-used condition with a 3-½ inch threaded aluminum seat for the instrument, two metal adjusters on each leg, with cone-shaped heavy-duty steel points on the legs.
Everything works exactly as it was intended to work.  Nothing is broken and we can find nothing that has ever been repaired.  It is just a very, very good heavy duty tripod that could be adapted to almost any use.  We do not have a case for the tripod or any other parts.
If you know anybody that has a use for a very good tripod, they would thank you for letting them know about this auction.  My wife says it would make a great decorator piece too!  I can imagine it with the points spread out a bit and an umbrella standing in the middle….
