We're listing a variety of vintage and antique photographs of dogs this week.
ONEONTA'S FAMOUS FIRE DOGS
"HAPPY"  and "OLD BEN"
Pit Bull or Staffordshire Terrier and a Labrador Retriever (?)
Unused postcard ca. 1906 - a printed (half-tone / lithograph) photograph of "Happy" & "Old Ben" ~ very good overall; minor wear including corner crease and light stain on Old Ben
To this day, firefighters (and sometimes entire fire teams) often adopt dogs rescued from fires. So, in addition to the more traditional Dalmations, these lucky pups ~ whatever their breed ~ become symbols of the resiliency, bravery, and fortitude of firefighters and the individuals they help.
Fire
house dogs are a reminder of their lifesaving work, and the loyalty of man’s best friend.
