Description
Truly a rare piece of history this DAR Pin dates to the 19th Century.Inscribed on the back is the name Anna Louise Derby, 34808.
A nice lady at the DAR National Headquarters was not able to say when this number was issued as the records that far back are a little sparse.
She was able to say that Member number 40,000 was issued in 1902.
My research found that Anna was born 29 July1879.
You must be 18 to join. So, the earliest would have been 1897.
She married Andrew Bartlett O’Hara 24 Sept. 1906.
She died 1918 at the age of 39.
This pin must have been made sometime around 1897-98.
120+ years old.
What you see is how I got it.
I have not tried to clean it up.
I had it tested and the tester said it tested to 14K very strong.
It is fully intact.
The blue porcelain on the front is in perfect condition. The pendant hanger turns and swivels.
Same with the stick pin.
A proper cleaning would yield a nice museum piece.
The condition is “pre owned” and based on its age we should expect it will show some wear.
I feel this is in remarkable condition for its age.
